A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Traditional Cheesemaking
Would you like to experience the rich cheese-making culture of Vorarlberg? Then book a guided tour of the Alma Mountain Dairy in Hinteregg, Eichenberg, and discover what makes the production and maturation of Vorarlberger Bergkäse PDO so special.
During the approximately 45-minute tour, you will gain fascinating insights into authentic Vorarlberg cheesemaking – from milk delivery and the traditional cheese vat to the cheese press, brining bath and ageing cellar. Of course, there will also be an opportunity to sample the cheese. A living tradition that can be seen, tasted and experienced first-hand.
- Guided tour including cheese tasting: €6 per person
- Children up to 14 years: free of charge
- Minimum charge per tour: €48
- Maximum group size: 15 people
- Cheese purchases available on site after the tour
Tours take place in the afternoon from approximately 1:00 pm, following the daily cheese production, and can be booked for small groups by prior arrangement with around two weeks’ notice.
