  • Alma Mountain Dairy in Hinteregg

The Hinteregg creamery was founded in 1938 and has since then been an insider’s tip for delicious cheese specialties. The alpine creamer today processes the hay milk from 11 farms in the vicinity into Vorarlberg Bergkäse (mountain cheese) P.D.O. The particularity of the small cheese dairy is the independent marketing of its entire Bergkäse (mountain cheese) offer, primarily directly on site at the mountain dairy above Pfänder Mountain. The products are also offered on the Bregenz and Wolfurt farmers’ market.

  • Alma Mountain Dairy in Lutzenreute

In the more than 100-year-old mountain creamery, the alpine creamer processes unconditioned hay milk into what is probably the most famous delicacy of the country – the Vorarlberg Bergkäse (mountain cheese) P.D.O. Made from non-fermented raw milk at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, the Bergkäse (mountain cheese) wheels are lovingly hand-ripened for at the latest 3 months. The Alma Mountain Dairy in Lutzenreute, which wins prizes for its Bergkäse (mountain cheese) regularly on a yearly basis, can be reached in an easy hike on the Josef-Rupp Cheese Trail.

  • Alma Mountain Dairy in Huban

The gate to Bregenzerwald is in Doren. This is not only where the Bregenzerwald cheese street starts, it is also where the Austrian cheese culture began in 1901. By founding the first state cheese dairy school, students from the entire Austrian Hungarian Empire were trained to become milk processing specialists. A lot has changed since then – except for the cheese production, which we operate still today as masterfully as in the emperor’s time.
